For those of us busy during the weekdays to have our tax questions answered, the IRS has announced a Saturday, November 3, 2001, as the National Problem Solving day. “This is a special day for taxpayers who need help,” said IRS Commissioner Charles O. Rossotti. “It’s one more way the IRS goes the extra mile to help taxpayers.”
Taxpayers can schedule appointments through a special toll free number 1-800-829-1040. The 43 national centers will be open from 9 am to 3 am to answer any or all questions that the taxpayers need answered.
“People who can’t make problem-solving appointments for our regular weekday service tell us they appreciate this extra opportunity to have their tax accounts straightened out,” said Jerry Heschel, IRS Director of Field Assistance.” Locations for the national centers can be found out by calling 1-800-829-1040.
